The role of the Overture Council is to build upon the CSO’s audience development initiatives by fostering a community for Chicago-area young professionals within the CSO family. Overture Council members contribute to the mission of the CSO through concert attendance and advocacy of the diverse musical offerings of the CSO and its community programs. In addition, the Overture Council supports the Negaunee Music Institute at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra by raising funds on behalf of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.

Join the Overture Council at Soundpost, the CSO’s preconcert series that explores the inner-workings of music with an electrifying and interactive experience. This year’s series explores composition — the evolution of a piece from the composer to the final score. Hear from CSO musicians and music industry leaders about the composition process and local technology companies will be on hand for guests to interact with music. Tickets to Soundpost are just $20 and includes specially priced cocktails, complimentary bites, live music demonstrations and music by DJ Ryan Keesling. Learn more and purchase tickets here.

  • Soundpost #2 — Thursday, May 4, 6:00 p.m.
  • Soundpost #3 — Friday, June 16, 6:00 p.m.

Overture Council Night at the Movies
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Back to the Future, the Overture Council hosted an action-packed party in Symphony Center. Guests were treated to delicious hors d’oeuvres, an open bar with Back to the Future inspired drinks, live music and a raffle. We even had a DeLorean! Proceeds from the Overture Council Night at the Movies event benefited the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, one of the nation’s premier training programs for emerging professional musicians.
